Wittgenstein in the Machine

This article brings to light how AI research has benefited from post-Wittgensteinian philosophy. My shows that Wittgenstein’s work began engage the attention of researchers not only in 1970s down present but right early beginnings computational 1950s. More specifically, his later philosophy inspired a group called Cambridge Language Research Unit (CLRU) start one first programs machine translation, information retrieval, mechanical abstracting, and knowledge representation technologies 1950s, all which have been claimed for cognitive science.
